Postby Adriene » Mon Apr 06, 2009 11:26 pm

Opening Reception at the Hope Gallery (Echo Park) on Friday, April 17.

The solo exhibition features recreations of iconic LA area buildings that have been torn down through the wrecking ball of progress. Entitled “Razed in LA,â€￾ artist Joe Girandola's new work includes the Ambassador Hotel, Wilshire Brown Derby, Gwinn’s Restaurant Pasadena, Schwab’s Pharmacy, Sherry’s Lounge, Johnie's Broiler, and the Pan Pacific Auditorium, and more. An exhibition booklet is being produced for this show with a forward by author, Amy Bloom.

Girandola was classically trained as a stone carver in Italy. All of the new works in the exhibition are created entirely from duct tape and can be viewed online at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/girandolastudio/
