we GOTTA have a round of drinks for the lotta living folks. joe, can you arrange a good time that won't conflict with rally events?
i think it probably would be best to do it at the official hotel lobby - but if you want to meet off-strip - our house would be open to lotta living friends.
also if you know anyone needs a last minute cool room...
special cheap rates for lotta living friends.

You have stayed at the Gold Spike before right?
Wanted to be sure you weren't joking
or a charter member of Matt and Stinky's CheapoVegas' (in)famous Shrimp Cocktail Extravagance Weekend. The Gold Spike is their favorite place and they hold some events there as well as stay there.
Just wanted to be sure you knew what you were getting into.

MM, we do need to meet for drinks.
The best time for me is Saturday between 230-800pm. Oddly, we're not bringing our scooters to this rally, so I am not riding. My wife, Tina, and I can meet anywhere for a drink and conversation. I would say we'll probably be doing "vegas" things during that time, so meeting at a casino lounge would work well. Meeting at the El Ranchito works too.
lasvegaslynn, yes, I know the story about the Spike. The Spike has been rally central for this event for years. I guess scooter people like that sort of low-brow scene.
We figured we needed to stay here at least once.
hope to see ya both. let me know what might work. pm or email me and I'll get you my cell number

Glad to hear it though I do like the idea of you being part of Matt and Stinky's CheapoVegas Shrimp Cocktail weekend. Always wanted to know a regular to that yearly weekend event.
EL RANCHITO 5:00 PM THIS SATURDAY!!!

cool, my wife Tina and I will be there! I'll try to bring another LL member Fireball and her husband who just bought a '50 ranch house. They're scootering too.

I didn't realize it was a B&B like her Eichler was. I would have booked here. Oh well, I need to do the Spike as kind of an initiation to my first Vegas Rally

Joe, looks like I will make it to Vegas after all! I'll be DJing 60's soul, garage and freakbeat Saturday night as well!!

MM: cocktail hour at the El Ranchito was awesome! It was great to meet up. Tina enjoyed it quite a bit. Good luck
I can see an annual Lotta Livin cocktail hour at next year's rally!
Question: what's the skinny on Holiday Motel across from the Stratosphere on the strip? Looked kind of nice from the outside. Might consider staying there sometime.

it was great meet you and tina live in the flesh!
and have roadside pictures along for the fun, too...
no matter where we are next year - same time next year... it shall be so.

for those who have never experienced the Gold Spike...
My wife and I did survive our stay the Spike this past weekend. Can't say I'll stay there ever again. Even the low-brow lovers are hesitant to stay there again (and have been doing so for the past 5 years). Here's a shot of some of the local talent in the bar...
Several friends were approached by crack dealers in the bar, which some witnessed locals smoking crack in the restroom. It's a little better when you have a hundred scooterists with you. Scary stuff. The rooms weren't too bad though. Worth the $20/night
I think HQ will move to the Aruba next year
