Thanks all. Every now and again it's nice to have a bit of encouragement. I'm glad the paint scheme pulled off OK -- the color combo looked good on the samples, but splashing some trial colors up on a test surface rarely tells you what it will look like at full scale.

My intent is to have all the painting done by end of July, which will coincide with the end of some other personal and work projects so that I can have all of August to "relax" and do nothing other than my normal job. The belt sander and I are going to become real good friends for the next month or so.

Joe, the roof is currently asphalt shingle. The rock roof will have to wait a few more years until I can get the landscaping, a bathroom remodel, and replacement windows out of the way...

Hi Perks,

I'm really late to the party, but I wanted to say Welcome to the Neighborhood!

This is my first post here, actually, but I've been keeping up with what you've done to the house....very nice, and very glad you're here! Some of your pics brought some memories rushing back. Your tile color colors were the same as my house, but a different floor plan.

I live in the house I grew up in on Gothic around the corner from you. I (barely) remember 1970 when each house had a rock roof and swamp cooler!

I'd love to share info!

Chris

Hey Chris! Glad to find some more folks out there, and welcome to the board! There's a couple other current and former Storybook Village owners in the neighborhood around here as well.

It would definitely be interesting to hear about how the neighborhood used to be and maybe even see some old photos if you happen to have any!

I've been meaning to plan a neighborhood mixer but keep getting sidetracked. I think I'll take a stab at that later in the summer.

I'll send you a PM with more info...

Except for my new front door (which I still haven't yet gotten around to building and installing), my months-long painting adventure is finally done. Yay!

And the back of the house finally looks decent...

The front door is finally in. I bought the "Parkway" reeded, dual-pane Crestview doorlight kit. Installing the light kit was a breeze. Getting the door hung was another story.

Hallelujah! No more painting. Now on to the landscaping...
