Why is is so hard to find the matching white laminate

Postby Scott NC » Sat Jan 10, 2009 7:21 am

countertops? For some reason, one of our 4 countertops were replaced I'd assume in the late 80's with a horrible laminate. Trying to match the other white/off white countertops and the normal lowes, home depot crap just doesn't match. Is there a place or am I better off finding something at a habitat for home type place?

Lowes and Home Depot carry just a small amount of laminate samples. you might try other sources.

Find a cabinet top fabricator in your area. They'll have a chain full of hundreds of samples to choose from.

Looks like the companies will mail you samples, which you could probably order from your local hardware store or...

Looks like we have the same vintage laminates.

Mine was Ivory Formica, but with a different surface texture than they offer now. The old look is no longer in production.

Both Wilsonart and Formica sent samples for free which were helpful. There is also a company called Arup USA that seems to have more of the mid-century colors in production (Turquoise, Yellows, Oranges, etc.).
