I need wallpaper suggestions for an accent wall.

Postby modernfromtn » Mon Mar 28, 2011 8:46 pm

Hi all, I need suggestions on wallpaper for an accent wall.

I really like the color now... BUT, and you can't see this in the photo, when installing the light fixture I really botched the drywall job. It looks bad when up close, so I want to cover it with wallpaper.

I've been scouring the internet but have not found anything that would look good, so I'm looking for suggestions!

Thanks in advance!

A common approach in the UK to troublesome walls -- cracks, poor repairs etc -- has been to hang a thick paintable wallpaper.

Now these are available with more modern, geometric patterns like this

Here's one link and with a search in the site for 'paintables."

Thank you for the suggestions egads.

If I could find a wallpaper I like, I may just do that and remove the other canvas art. The light needs to stay though, it's my only bedroom light!

i love that flooring on wall idea. very clever!

please note that wallpaper doesn't cover up EVERYTHING. your walls need to be fairly smooth depending on how textured the wallpaper is... but that being said, grasscloth is very forgiving. we covered a rough wall at our eichler with vintage vinyl grasscloth.

we did a couple of accent wallpaper walls at the caddyshack several years back. one was a verner panton pattern:

then we did a house two years ago and did a lot of wallpaper. this was more of a hollywood regency design inspiration. these looked better in person. i also did some geometric white on white designed paper that did not photograph well (not shown), but looked smashing.

i buy most all of my wallpaper from here:

find your favorite design elsewhere and then check to see if they beat prices - they often do!

Excellent! Less really is more. How about a cylinder on the other side of the bed?
