A. Quincy Jones/Emmons homes in Newport Beach, CA

Postby scowsa » Sun Jun 02, 2013 6:12 pm

The Hammer A. Quincy Jones exhibit includes lots of original drawings of houses, developments and commercial work and one that caught my eye was for Lido Sands in Newport Beach, which was new to me.

So I did a search on this board and found a brief thread back in 2004. Then I did a broader web search and I thought I would share what I found.

Firstly, a local realtor's site:
"Lido Sands is one of those neighborhoods that you drive by everyday going to and from the beach in West Newport and have no idea it exists. You can even ask local West Newport residents where "Lido Sands" is and they will try to correct you and think you mean Lido Island. Lido Sands is one of the coolest original beach bungalow communities of it's day originally built 1957 by noted Mid-Century Modern award winning architect A. Quincy Jones. Today about 75% of the 82 home community are still original architecture. "

Secondly, its detailed history, from the Lido Sands Community Association

Thirdly, what seems to be the most recent house sale. A 3 bed, 2.0 bath, 1255 sqft home that sold for $1,125,000.
