Ohh, your house is in great shape. And so many neat fixtures. Is the saucer shaped one (in the paneling pic) monofilament ?
Yes the kitchen and bathroom are ick, but you have a great base to work with.
Good luck!

r'n'r:
Thanks! It will be a long road but we think it's all worth it. Saving this house is a lot like rescuing furniture from thrift stores. We feel like we are, in our own small way, making the world a slightly better place by making it just a little more midcentury modern. Yes, the saucer-shaped light is just a plain ol' standard lightbulb in there!

no updates yet! Other than removing carpet/refinishing floors and a few walls given some fresh (and more colourful) paint, we haven't done much. We did remove the bad 70s paneling in the office and removed the nicotine-stained vertical blinds in the living room and put up those great "sunshade" roller blinds in a nice chocolate brown to match the wood detailing that's there (and in the foyer too) but that's about it!

I have posted a few new pics to give an idea but give us a few months and we'll have replated (w/chrome) our sputnik fixtures and hung them and, with a little luck, will also have a new blondwood bedroom set too. And then we'll post a whole whack of new pics. Might be spring by the time we post more, tho'...

Stay tuned. Would love to hear the opinions of some of the Lotta Livin' regulars on what they think of our modest Canadian slice of the suburban dream....
