Show us your modern christmas tree!

Postby PacificaModern » Tue Dec 13, 2005 8:45 am

We got our tree set up last week, and got to thinking (wondering) what all the other modernists do for decorating and lighting the modern house....

So, show us your best Charlie Brown, OR your Clark W. Griswold sides!

I'll start...

PacificaModern-- wondering about the colored "malibu style" lighting around the perimeter of your house. They look terrific.

Are they solar style pagoda lights, low voltage or 120V?

thanks,

b

Thanks you guys! I love doing low-light photography.

But come on! I wanna see YOUR lights and trees!

Tiki, I am already envisioning your globe lights glowing with killer christmas colors.

Chimay, where's the colored backlighting for the Mistlite screens? AND Chirstmas colored globes, Or perhaps some colored lenses for the pool lights!

Be it Traditional, be it whimsical, be it Atomic Age, break out those digital cameras get some shots and share them here!

Cheers,
Marty *** ***

I haven't even decorated our aluminum tree yet. Too busy at work. I'll get to it soon, promise. Photos to come!

SRK, those ornaments are soo cool! I love those with the recessed cone in them. Reminds me of the years I spent staring at my grandma's tree when we would go over there for Christmas eve! she had lots of that style on her tree too! Love it!

Here's ours. I have to give all the credit to my Wife. She picked it out and decorated it.

Most cool, STL. I like the ultra clean white look with the transparent ornaments! (or mirrored ornaments, I can't tell)

Also, you have the same number of presents under the tree that I do! ZERO! But I must admit that I wasn't such a good boy this year, so Santa may pass me by!

Cheers,
Marty  ***

Thanks Marty. There are clear and silver/chrome ornaments on the tree. We have no kids and I already gave the Wife her present. Can't get any more minimal than that.

Super nice aluminum tree Diva~! But then again, as you can tell, I am partial to aluminum trees. Funny thing about the IKEA decorations, we bought some for our tree too, but when we put them on, the branches all started to droop! I especially like those little ones that look like starbursts you have, and the tree skirt is cool too!

Do I detect wind and snow in the background? Yikes, that has to be tough coming from Southern California as you do!

At any rate, Cheers and thanks for sharing your tree!

Regards,
Marty  ***

This year I had no tree, but did haul out this old favorite. My mother picked it up in Japan just before I was born so it's always been a part of my life. The entire nativity is made of bamboo—could it be a considered a tiki-tivity? Regardless, I adore it.

Here are a couple shots from my 1955 Palmer and Krisel ranch this year. All in all, three aluminum trees and a 1956 Cadillac Coupe de Ville were used. Happy new Year to all.

Though there was a little bit of a learning curve involved, I think I've got it. There was a new camera under the tree, and I'm just figuring it out.

WOW! Congratulations momp57, on the beautiful tree, lights, house and the new digicam! 8) I especially like the colored lamps on the Sputnik fixture in the entry! Also, I really like those large "starburst" ornaments kinda flying over the tree!

Most SpaceAge indeed! A great display. Anyhow, keep the new digital cam warmed up and show us some more of your place it looks super cool.

I am gonna wait until this weekend to "de-christmas" our place. What's an extra week, right?

Cheers,
Marty  *** *** ***

De-Christmasing

Postby ksjoyner » Thu Jan 05, 2006 1:42 pm

Just to say - today is 12th Night and some think you should take down the decorations tonight, however, I wait until after Jan. 6th which is Epiphany. I would have sent in a photo but my daughters wouldn't let me put up my space age tree!
