We just got our LG french door with bottom freezer and we actually got one that is only 29 inches wide. It is thinner than a lot of the others. Still a bit deeper than I would like (not counter depth) but the price was right and they delivered it and took away the old energy hog for free.
no ice on the door, like it to be streamlined, although i see the convenience of it. Seems great so far

Its been a while since I posted in this thread. Below is a link to an album that shows some of progress we've made. It shows the new exterior cedar siding, interior cedar panelling, new windows (including the storefront window in the living room) decking, etc. Let me know what you all think.....

Now you're just embarrassing me!
what a beauty! can i come live there?
i want to plop my deck chair on that out door deck (it is a deck right?) and watch the clouds roll by...
nice job, is that exterior siding treated with something clear?

Thanks for the kind words Izzy. I'm pleased with the way its coming along. There are four levels of decking. One off the living room (ground level), one off the master bedroom (which is the one with the "triangular window") and two different decks on the roofs (the first pic with the "checker board" pattern)

You wont have to bring a chair up to the roof, as chair backs will be integrated into the deck. Essentially, rectangles (about the size of a lounge chair back" will lift on hinges from the deck and lock in an upright position. Then all you will need to do is throw down a lounge chair cushion and voilla.
(you likely have no idea WTF I'm trying to explain here  )

How are you doing the interior cedar panels? Our home originally had horizontal cedar paneling, but sometime in the 70s it was replaced with drywall covered with cheap vertical panels...you know, the thin 4'x8' stuff that smells funny after awhile. :? I'd love to replace it with interior paneling like yours! :D

Jesgord,
Beautiful work. What are you planning to do with the floors?

Floors are hardwood both up and downstairs. Upstairs oiginally had hardwood in stained a dark brown...down stairs was shag carpet. We have not yet decided on how we will finish the floors. Our floor guy is preparing a bunch of samples for us. Its likely we will go significantly lighter than the original floors which were nearly as dark as the posts and beams.

Well! This is both a visual delight and an architectural treat. Those outside mitered corners look stunning and the color/shade/tone matching is spectacular.

It's really a pleasure to see such fine craftsmanship. The Restoration/Renovation of the year in my book! Congratulations.

I just re-read a Nelson DeMille mystery set in the area and called "Plum Island." So I have a sense of the flavor of the area -- I think.

Congratulations on your handsome home re-do ! Keep up with the good work.

As it was the topic of so much discussion, I am posting a few pics of the partially installed Kerf Kitchen. There are more laminated areas on the lower window wall cabinets that are covered in the pics.

Also have posted a pic of the new interior panelling in the context of the fireplace.

Been trying to decide whether to recreate the original brise de soleil that was over the kitchen windows before the work started. I love it and think it should go back up...wondering what you all think. Here are some pics for guidance.

Put it back. It looks like any old generic modern house without it.

Some may recall the debate that went on about certain aspects of my proposed kitchen (If not read above) Well a fellow LOLer asked for some photos of my kitchen yesterday and I realized I never posted any finished pics here. Here it is-let me know what you think (Sorry for the poor quality pics...all I had handy was my iPhone)

Very boss, glad to see your not timid with color, hiding the fridge was a good decision, the tubular sconce with the mesh shade reminds me of the Capitol Records tower in Hollywood, which hang from metal arms protruding from the solid portion of facade, I happen to own a few extras :-)
