...with more money than taste. I wasn't sure if I should put this post here or in the Real Estate section....

The absolute Masters of the Universe!

They must have had some sort of competition in order to come up with somethimg like that!

It's a compilation of the best in every tacky styles in history!
Or even when not tacky in their own era - somehow rendered to be...
Great post!

This house is really impossible! The best ever in its own kind - Should be declared Historic monument immediately, as it pretty much summarizes the era we're living in

Hideous doesn't begin to describe it. I am embarrassed for the agent who has to sell it.

I've always wanted to do a tour of really bad houses. I'd end it with cocktails at this one!

What a hoot.

Have our lives really become so empty, in America today, that this is what we think we need to make them full. . .?

Thanks for a peek at hell. (The magenta entry is probably designed for the new owner to "correct," don't you suppose.)

A couple of months ago there was a house shown in one of these postings which was, in my opinion and in the opinion of others, quite hideous. The comments ran the gamut from "an abomination" to some sort of expletive which I won't repeat. The discussion became so heated that the thread was locked, postings restricted, and some users banned. It even generated a whole new thread about personal opinion and free speech:

That discussion caused controversy because it was thought that the comments were mean spirited, uniformed, and not in keeping with this "Welcome to Pleasantville..." theme which has suddenly appeared as a tagline at the top of each page.

I don't see how this discussion is that much different, yet it continues unhindered. Maybe Futura Girl is on vacation.

Anyway, just a little cautionary advise as we seem to be moving away from the "light-hearted, positive, and friendly" spirit we're supposed to adhere to around here, and I'm sure none of us want to be exiled from Pleasantville.

Hi home_boy, we are talking about a house that has been changed beyond recognition from it original beauty. Yes, we have strong opinions, BUT we are "lighthearted" amongst oursleves in the disussion, we are being "friendly" with each other and I am "positive" ly repulsed by the home in question.

We are not attacking each other but rather a highly unusually tacky design aesthetic. I know some may think the home remodel is spectacular (don't know who...but).

Anyway, I thought by posting this thread it would actually add some humor, albeit of the sarcastic kind, to this board. It IS just a house we are talking about here not a person. Well...slightly about an unknown person...who messed up a house. Simple as that.

If the owner of this house reads this post, they have my full apologies if they feel they have been slandered in anyway.

Either someone used Barbie's dreamhouse as inspiration

or

It's a brothel.

Well, it's actually a very well preserved house.
Take out the faux-finis, wall paper, the curtains & strip the paint from the beams. Repaint the whole thing, redo the bathroom & kitchen & you'll have a pretty decent house. :D
...Aside from the floors... Which you can probably live with, or at least change the "bad" vinyl...
Oh! And change that front door also :)

I'd have a contractor make an estimate on that & have it deducted from the proposed buying price...

Owners are probably lottery winners who have spent every dime they've won & now need to downsize

...Also home_boy, IMHO I don't see any mean spirited, uniformed, and not in keeping with this "Welcome to Pleasantville spirit" comments here. I agree with post50modern here and I think that indeed, this discussion IS different from the one that caused all the stir. We're just having a good community laugh here & I don't see anyone throwing "bricks" at anyone.

AAAAGHHH! TOO PINK!! IT BURNS!!!
I get the picture of a seller watching a few home-makeover shows too many - "hey, these modern houses aren't so bad once you give them the 'personal touch' - I just let my inner seven-year-old go wild!"

Have to post this link again to a marble columns commercial:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZcba7CUaCE

Someone on this web post should be able to create a mockumentry commercial that can save future modernist homes from "tuscanfication"...
