Help with Swedish desk manufacturer Logo

Postby mari_9 » Tue Jan 17, 2012 3:59 pm

Hi,

I just bought a roll-top secretary desk similar to the one linked here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Danish-Modern-S ... 9377wt_722

The bottom is stamped "Made in Sweden" with a sticker with the manufacturer logo - the initials "SIM" in a circle, see last picture in link above. Anyone know what manufacturer this is?

Thanks for any help!
Mari

I'm gonna guess that it's not "SIM" but "MIS" or Made In Sweden. Other than that...I got nothin'. Sorry.

SMI

The SMI logo stands for either 'Svenska Möbel Industrier' or 'Sveriges Möbelindustriförbund', according to some discussions I have followed here in Sweden. SMI was probably an association of several smaller furniture industries.

SMI is often mistaken for SMF, which is 'Svenska Möbelfabrikerna i Bodafors' or simply 'Bodafors'.

Either way, your desk was made in Sweden!
