Greta Grossman left her native Sweden in 1940. Moving to Los Angeles, she opened a Rodeo Drive studio, designed for the landmark Barker Bros. store, built modernist homes and crafted innovative furniture and lighting. Her work was featured in LACMA's “Living in a Modern Way" last year and also in the Autry Museum's current exhibit on "California's Designing Women, 1896–1986."
This LA Times article has a nice slide show and also references the upcoming exhibit at the Pasadena Museum of California Art (PMCA) -- "Greta Magnusson Grossman: A Car and Some Shorts." Its subtitle from Grossman's quip to a newspaper about what she needed most upon her arrival in California
