BEST of LOTTA LIVING!!!

Postby Futura Girl » Mon Dec 05, 2005 5:29 pm

I have created a new forum called "Best of Lotta Living"
http://www.lottaliving.com/bb/viewforum.php?f=22

This forum is for those VERY RARE threads which are so good - they should be read over and over again - or at least should be pointed out to newcomers as a good place to get know the forum. It will also help keep these great topics from forever being buried in the 1000s of posts here...

In this forum you can NOT post new topics (but you can always add to the existing threads to make them even more "best threads").

I have already moved over the 2 great threads "100 ways to screw up" and "100 ways to improve your Modern home."

I am interested to hear which other threads YOU think are WORTHY of being the best of best threads.

post your links here OR PM me with them.
I'm gonna keep on the run... I'm gonna have me some fun if it costs me my very last dime.
If I wind up broke up, well, I'll always remember that I had a swingin' time

I would vote for the Bathroom Ideas thread. It's a topic people are apparently very passionate about!

Of course, the logical progression of this is …

The First Annual Googie Awards

Image And in the category of best post by a noobie in a supporting thread ... the nominees are … and the Googie goes to … Roxy500!
ImageThank you; thank you everyone! You love me; you really love me!!!

Maybe a Googie can be a statue shaped like Bob’s Big Boy. And the lifetime achievement award, the Nichols Award, is a photograph of a photograph.

you really are ONTO something though... i think the new Atomic Age Alliance should host an annual Googie Awards and hand them out to business who do good things for the preservation community.

Who's gonna design the award?

You could also give out a Grrr-gie for contractors behaving badly.

Regarding the “Best of Lotta Livingâ€￾ ... I can’t explain the appeal of “Suit Appeal,â€￾ but I have to tip my hat to Matt for that thread ( http://www.lottaliving.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=3179 ). It has over 10,000 views on only 72 replies! That’s statistically astonishing. Besides the “New Members Say Helloâ€￾ thread, which has over 20,000 views on over 500 replies, how many threads on this board have reached such a formidable view count? (Of course, it could be that Gladhatter read “Suit Appealâ€￾ 5,000 times, but even so, think of what 10,000 means – it’s like reading the complete works of SDR four times!) Plus, I liked the personal photos of Luke Trash, and Chimay as a Clockwork Orangeâ€￾ droog (or I suppose, the droog leader), although that link is no longer active.

Now, when I slip the surly bonds of cyberspace, I want to be remembered just for this one thing,
Image
which, if not art, at least radiates all that is warm and fuzzy about being part of this community.

I really loved that one thread. You are a creative master, Sean... uh, I mean Sky.
