Greetings from the Lotta Living Management :-)

Postby Futura Girl » Sun Dec 25, 2005 2:30 am

I wanted to send out some sort of holiday greeting to my friends,
but it is so difficult in today's world to know exactly what to
say without offending someone. So I met with my attorney, and on
his advice (and after $1,200. in attorneys fees) I wish
to say the following:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes
for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low
stress, non-addictive gender neutral, celebration of the winter
solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of
the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your
choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or
traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or
secular traditions at all.

I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and
medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally
accepted calendar year 2006, but not without due respect for the
calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society
have helped make America great (not to imply that America is
necessarily greater than any other country or is the only
"AMERICA" in the western hemisphere), and without regard to the race,
creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith, or sexual
preference of the wishes.

By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms:

This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely
transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies
no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes
for her/himself or others, and is void where prohibited by law,
and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. This wish is
warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of
good tidings for a period of one year, or until the issuance of a
subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty
is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at
the sole discretion of the wisher...

Brilliant, whatever the source ! Thanks, M-M -- and the same to you !

The lastest news on the X-Mas Observance Front has certain groups proclaiming that adults should not give each other gifts, but instead donate to charity. It is unclear whether this is to be done to spite, or just in spite of, the retailers who would presumably suffer the result of this practice.

It's been an interesting season of (non-violent, thank the ____) disagreement about how the season "should" be celebrated. . .

Best to all, is all I can say. . .! SDR *** ***

i'd love to share with you the source of my greetings, but my attorney advised me to plead the 5th ammendment.

but seriously, it's from my friend good Greg, a rock and roll mgr/agent who often actually gives me legal advice!

personally, i celebrate the ONLY true winter holiday.

As a bona fide recipient of your nonbinding greeting agreement, for no value and without notice, I would like to reciprocate in kind.

I'm a little surprised that your attorney did not insist on adding a sanity clause, though.

I hope you all had a good one - Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Summer Solstice, or whatever.

fine print

Postby losfeliz » Mon Dec 26, 2005 5:36 pm

Tony,

Inasmuch as some of us celebrate Jewish New Year in the autumn and Chinese New Year in the late winter, I do believe if you add an asterisk and some fine print to "Happy New Year" indicating the inclusion of these "alternative calendar" new years, you will be well covered.

M-M, well done, I have never been the recipient of such a warm, all-inclusive, all-asses-covered X-mas greeting. Whoops, X-mas is rather insulting, what about Y-mas ?? Z-mas has some appeal as well.
