if you have been experiencing any problems with the forums (like being logged out on a regular basis) over the last week or so, please let me know here.

Hello Futura Girl,

No problems as of late except tonight when I tried to post and had to log in again.

Not sure if it's the same issue but this week when I've tried to post or PM I keep getting 'invalid session' when I hit submit. On the 3rd or 4th try it seems to go through. On a couple of occasions I've also been prompted to log back on after pressing submit - anything I typed then has to be rewritten - hope this is what you were after

Hi FG,

The only problem I'm having is when I open LL, the view new posts since last visit feature doesn't work. The folder list page will show the pink folders but they disappear after I click on it and I'm told there are no new posts since my last visit...

Roxy

and i've never had to type in a secret password but I did get an "invalid session" comment when trying to post.

I've constantly been logged out for no apparent reason over the past month or so. This has never happened in the past, as I always click the "keep me logged in" option whenever I do log in.

Same here. Or I just can't get on the site. I sure love it here though!

thanks for the feedback - keep it coming.
yes, this is a recent development.
the invalid session is related - it is actually logging you out, but if you have automatic log in checked off - it will eventually log you back in - so hance on the 2nd, third or fourth try - your post goes through.

------
roxy - i think yours is a different problem - if you want to use the search for new posts feature - you must keep that window open and right click on the links to open up new posts. otherwise it will refresh the new posts screen since your very last click and see that nothing is new since the last time you searched (a minute or so ago)
-----

i am sorry for this inconvenience folks - we are working on a solution.
but keep logging these problems and describing them here.

Was logged off multiple times trying to post this...

I checked the "Log me on automatically each visit" box... seems to work better this way.

Over the last couple of weeks, I'll get this error notice - maybe once a day.

From my previous post on this issue

moderns-r-us wrote:I was having some trouble posting replies to existing topics before this Friday's meltdown, but now it is nearly impossible. I keep getting a reply that says "Invalid Session."

I have to keep hitting the submit button up to twenty tries to get it to post my reply.

Anyone else having this trouble?

Is it just me, my computer or my browser (AOL)?

It seems to better than it was but still having intermittent trouble with this issue.

On my last 3 visits my attempt to use the the view new posts since last visit feature led to a log-out. Then the required new log-in means this is a new "new vist" so that feature lists no new posts.

Also, in replying to this thread, I was again logged out and had to log-in to complete this post.

Hey Rockland,

Your PM didn't come through. This system is sometimes finicky and does not send PM's even when it shows a "Your message was delivered" page.
____________________________________________________________

Have there been any other such reports ? This would be a troublesome glitch, as it might go largely unreported. . .

I'm not sure if this department is read by many, but I'm still curious if there have been reports -- or unreported suspicions -- of PM's not being delivered.

It would be a shame if PM's go unanswered, not intentionally or through neglect but simply because the sender wasn't notified of the error.

i have not heard of this before. usually it is user error...

you can check on sent messages and see whether they were seen or not by comparing your 'outbox' vs. 'sent' box. out just means you sent it, but it has not been seen...

I also got the DEBUG message today when posting so I naturally re-posted and then found it had gone up twice.

I did use the Edit option to delete one.

i think that the posts are going through - the first time you post (even with the debug error)
so no need to repost.

our isp is MIA again.

"Oh stewardess, I speak jive."

I started writing PHP this semester. I’ll be glad to look at it, if you want – although it surprises me that something like that would suddenly go bad.

Here is my first site written with PHP and MySQL:
http://igbay.fotkipus.com/ig-bay.html

-------------

Later … now that I think about it, I bet the problem is data driven - an odd character in your database that the emailer.php program runs into and burps.
