"Medallion Home" medallion
Howdy folks! We found a bronze medallion at a thrift store that reads: Medallion Home, Live Better, Electrically. Where were these placed on the house? We’re guessing at the entrance of the house; does it go on the door, or above it? We’ve heard of them going on either side of the driveway, placed in the cement, but that’s not an option. Yes, we know this is making it a counterfeit, so go call Capt. Braddock from Racket Squad, but we think this is super swell.
Geepers, thanks!

I was able to dig this up
"In October 1957, LBE launched the “Medallion Homes†campaign, which sought to sell 20,000 all-electric homes nationwide by 1958, 100,000 by 1960 and 970,000 by 1970.
To earn a gold medallion–a decal affixed to a home’s entryway and considered the apex of modern, all-electric living–a home had to have an electric clothes washer and dryer, waste disposal, refrigerator and all-electric heating."

Just moved into my townhouse in San Clemente. It's Corbu modern with white stucco and large sliding glass doors, but de-rigueur mission tile tacked on probably to meet planning code requirements. It has the medallion on the doorbell, the oven and range are electric, the heater and water heater are gas. The house is intact from remodelings since built in 1973, except for the flooring, which I'm working on now. My wife and I bought it from the original owners who even left us with a set a Franciscan Starburst china in the cabinet.

Roger that Houston! So it goes right above the doorbell? I could live with an electric oven, but an electric cook-top is something I’ve always found infuriating; I’ve never been able to regulate the heat as well as I can with gas.

And
It was always at least to me All electric was for more expensive upscale homes and the 'Balanced Power' ones (and associated logo-dunno if that went on the doorbell tho) were the lower priced homes with the gas kitchen appliances and gas dryer hookup. Anyone remember when your utility company used to sell kitchen appliances (I remember they had an electric range displayed at the local SCE billpaying office)? My grandma in Kansas bought her electric range from her local electric utility. My how things have changed.
