light bulb question

Postby jeffro108 » Sun Nov 04, 2007 6:57 am

We got this awesome wall sconce from a guy in the neighborhood. After installing it in the stairwell, we realized that the light bulbs we got for it didn't quite fit. We tried big globe light bulbs from the home improvement store, which look great, but the stems weren't actually long enough to fit into the sockets and work (last picture). Regular light bulbs fit (second picture) but look ridiculous--any suggestions?

You need to use a tubular showcase type bulb such as this:

You could always use socket extenders.

They come in various lengths

I just remembered one oddball bulb for those fixtures, the Tovibulb. It was a bulb in a chrome housing that was often used with fixtures like that. I had one around here....somewhere...

We followed your advice and went with the smaller recessed bulb. It is perfect--thanks for the suggestion. Now, on to the next project! :)
