Here is the family for whom I designed the Meadowdale home

The family for whom I designed the Meadowdale home-
Image
Inasmuch as the parents were both artists; I designed
their Balcony Studio over the Living Room so work and
a lively family life could go on at the same time.

A very enjoyable job. Jerry

Thank you for your kind words-
there are a lot of things in the way
of creating homes like this today.
Over-regulation, high costs as well
as the mortgage foreclosure crisis
make custom building tougher- but
somehow motivated clients are still
looking for better living situations. JG

beautiful home, love the photo of the living room with the old furniture.
i hope the new owners apprecitate it for what it is and don't do anything "crazy".

Love your house and all your work that you've posted so far. As a fellow northwesterner I'm thrilled to show everyone what modern style we do have. It's not all log cabins and birkenstocks!
I did go to the Windmere link and the way you captured the view and natural light is shown well but the furniture the current owners have in there is all wrong - oh and that pink! I hope that the new owners will appreciate it and at least try to match the interior with the overall design rather than try to turn it into some clichè of european country life.
Thanks, Jerry. It is interesting to hear the tidbits you share like special requests from families or considerations due to the natual terrain. Please do share more.

Jerry, It's always best to add posts to your existing thread. This basic internet bulletin board etiquette. Here is a little flash presentation about posting that I think is really funny. I only link it in the spirt of humor and I don't mean to be mean:

staying with the existing thread-

Thanks- I debated about doing this- and after seeing your presentation,
I'm inclined to add it to the existing Meadowdale thread as you suggest.

Watch this space. J-

This is the deal, for those looking, it's helpful to have everything together. Also, it helps forum moderators because they have to merge threads about the same thing. These threads live a long time. Folks go searching for things they have seen. So an internet board becomes a reference library. You know how librarians are about keeping things organized.

These are good points and really the way I've kept my architectural practice organized all these many years. Thanks for the reminder. Jerry

Good idea egads.
I enjoy Jerry's posts and would like to keep them together.
LL has pages so long scrolling will not be an issue.

More on the Meadowdale home- Floor Plans added 7/21/08

Postby JGropp » Mon Jul 21, 2008 9:41 am

After hearing that my "Meadowdale house" was listed for sale, I called the Realtor Craig Purfeerst
of Windermere Real Estate, Edmonds, arranged to go visit my creation of long ago. I was pleased
to see how the various owners over the years have cherished and cared for this special home, its
lovely garden and the woodland knoll upon which it sits. The following exterior photos show more.

Realtor Craig Purfeerst
(his cell# (206)714-1241)
knows all my Edmonds, WA
homes (there are several).
I'm happy to have Craig
showing this- one of my
favorite home designs.

Here are photos taken when the home was new by Vern Green.
These were shown in the Seattle Times "Roto" Magazine. Jerry
