FADO lighting by IKEA

Postby Chimay » Mon Apr 04, 2005 3:52 pm

Actually, there are at least three different versions of the FADO lamp at IKEA. One of the pendant varieties has a non-adjustable metal base, but there is another version with a larger globe that hangs from a metal wire and is, in fact, adjustable. (The third variety has no base at all, and is just a globe that sits on a table or the floor.).

Many lighting retailers have lots of catalogs and sources for lighting components. White globes have been around for 100 years, now -- Wright used them in some of his early custom fixtures, and they are made in many sizes, both in glass and plastic. So, if you wanted to switch glass for plastic, it should be possible to order just the globes you want.

Hanging ball lights are now being sold at Ikea. The store in Burbank had them but are now temporarily sold out.. Heads up for those who can't wait for Go-kat-Go delivery.. Not sure on the price comparison.
Cheers,
