Need tips on refurbing a MCM brushed aluminum sconce

Postby bvadel » Thu Nov 10, 2005 7:07 pm

We just picked up 2 unique mid-century modern, outdoor wall lights for our Eichler that need some 'cleanup'. Specifically, there appears to be areas where there is oxidation of the aluminum which makes it a slightly darker shade.

Can anyone offer tips on how we can best clean the brushed aluminum? We would ideally like to restore these back to original condition (or at least close to it). Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

hey bvadel, welcome to LL

be sure to use the search function to find old threads where we've discussed cleaning up sconces just like yours.

If I recall, I think steel wool works pretty well on these babies.
