Salvage or scrap yards / Atomic wall sconces

Postby Puddintate » Wed Mar 26, 2003 8:11 am

My Girlfriend and I are looking for some large, commercial ,architectual style (round or square) planters. Does anyone here know of any salvage or scrap yards which might have such things?

I'm also looking for original exterior atomic style wall sconces. I have found a nice reproduction, but where are originals? There were so many when I was a kid, allmost every apartment building had a couple.

They must have all been scraped! I can just imagine a mountain of them rusting somewhere.

Are there any interesting salvage yards to visit in southern California :?:

I recently received a catalog from Rejuvination Lighting out of Portland. They have a couple interesting period lights from the 50s (repro). Their cone sconces are nice. You can see and order their stuff online.

Sconce update

Postby Puddintate » Thu Apr 24, 2003 8:13 am

I was on my way home going up 4 th St. in Long Beach the other day so I stopped to check some vintage Furniture shops. One large store had about 4 repro sconces for $195 EACH, which is a BIT steep for a repro! I believe the place is call Ellan?

I got mine from Bubbly Hills in Bixby Knolls for $70 and It's got an industrial flake paint job to boot. The last one She had, Obviously the same maker.

$195 ?!?!.......Someone's been smokin' some lead infused Banana peels or somthing! A great look for any room, but for that much is quite outrageous!
