It's almost that time of year - time to elect your leadership for the next year. The following is both the outline of the election process, as well as the descriptions of the positions available. As described, nominations will be accepted at the August meeting through September 9th, 2002. …Elections will be held annually in October.
…There will be no term limits.
…Officer Qualifications:
--Have attended at least three meetings within a year.
--LAC membership.
--Candidate for Modern Committee Chair should have served for at least one term as a Chair, Associate Chair or other major leadership position.
--Members who run for the position of Modcom Chair may also run for an additional elected position.
--Members may not hold more than one office at the same time.
…Nominations and Declarations occur in August.
--List of offices and responsibilities will be emailed out and posted on the website one week prior to August meeting.
--Nomination form with names of offices and responsibilities will be passed out during August meeting.
--Absentee nominations: An email may be sent in if a member is unable to attend the August meeting. This nomination must be submitted at least one week prior to September meeting.
--Members may self-nominate or nominate other members.
--LAC will compile the results and nominated individuals will be informed via phone.
--Nominated individuals may accept or decline at that time.
…Candidates will be announced in September.
--The list of candidates and their campaign statements will be posted to the website and emailed to the membership at least one week prior to the October meeting.
…Balloting Process:
--Secret written ballot at meeting (sign-in required for verification).
--Absentee ballots must be sent to LAC office by 3 PM on day of meeting.
--LAC will count ballots on actual night of meeting.
--If there is more than one candidate for the position of Modcom Chair, the Chair ballots will be counted first and the results of that election announced. The Elected Chair will then be removed from the ballot for any of the other elected positions.
--No write in candidates will be accepted.
--Announcement will be made at end of meeting.
…Newly elected officers begin serving at the conclusion of the October meeting.

Vice Chair
…Works with Chair to prepare the meeting agenda
…Assist the chair in the ongoing responsibilities of the committee
…Actively solicit and coordinate LAC newsletter articles
…In the event the Chair is unable to perform his/her duties, performs Chair duties
Commercial Council Chair
…Prioritize proactive and reactive commercial issues
…Maintain current lists prioritized issues for monthly agenda publication
…Hold regular (Monthly suggested) meetings
…Report on key issues at general Modcom meeting
…Coordinate with Education/Outreach Council chair
…Update web site for upcoming commercial events and issues
…Communicate agenda items to Modcom Chair one week prior to the meeting
…Help to provide content for articles in the LAC Newsletter
